Existing vocational training concepts and media support for the learning field "Networktechnology in Communication Electronics and Mechanical Engineering", isolated and only nationally used, will be integrated in an existing, but extended concept of a multimedia, interactive compound of distributed learning places. The virtual vocational school concept establishes a link between system development, working use and learning. It aims an intensivation, actualisation and practical relevance of vocational learning and as a means of cooperation between vocational schools and companies.

Results and research directions
The results consists of the concept of a distributed, linked virtual learningroom, the necessary communication protocols and networkservices, as well as the computersupported didactical media (informational text, experiments, educational games, simulators field studies, tests).

Community added value
An interactive distributed environment supports a direct contact between students, teachers, schools, companies and systemdevelopers of different European regions. It combines the advantages of an economical use of worldwide existing and evaluated means of learning with a qualification relevant dimension of differentiated regional application of teaching and industrial practice. It therefore contributes to the improvement of initial vacational training in the sense of an early qualification for self-reliant, innovative management of technological and workoriented changes.
